Tulsa Quilts for Kids - “StripperQuilt (Approx. 41 x 47)

This is a quick and simple quilt to make. Seam allowance is ¼”.

Fabric Requirements:


1/3 yard of 4 fabrics [cut 2 strips from each         fabric [4 ½” x WOF]

Center Strip [4 ½” x WOF]


Border Fabrics:

1st (inside) 1/3 yd [5 strips cut 2 ½”]

2nd (outside) – ½ yd [5 strips cut 4”]


Backing: 2 yards of 44/45” fabric


Binding: ½ yd [5 strips cut 2 ½” x WOF]

1.  Sew the strips together on the long side in any color or pattern combination with   the single 4 ½” strip in the center.


2.  Sew the 1st border to the top and bottom of the 9-strip unit, trimming the excess fabric. Repeat for the sides, piecing as necessary. Repeat for the second  border.


3.  Layer the quilt top over 1/8 – 1/4 inch low loft batting and backing. Quilt as you desire. Remember that this quilt will be loved and washed a lot, so make sure that there is enough stitching to hold the quilt together for a long time. Bind the  quilt as you normally would.


4.  Wash and dry the completed quilt. (Please do not use fabric softener).


 5.  A central drop-off has been established at the Quilt Sampler located at 6024 South Sheridan, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74135 (918) 493-3388 for return of the completed quilt along with any fabric remnants.
